Do you have a (efficient and clean) wood burning stove? Would you be interested in being part of a group bulk-buying wood in Montpelier?
Jo has kindly offered to co-ordinate a bulk wood purchase from a recommended wood provider (approx price £85 per metric cubic tonne), but only if there is significant interest.
If there is significant interest, Jo will proceed and see how to sort it out (ie, geting the order in, negotiating with a local spot to leave the wood etc.). This will not be a delivery to your house, you’ll need to be ready to collect yourselves, and to share and share alike.
Please leave a comment here, including your email address (add it to the form and it won’t appear in public), so Jo can see if there is interest.
For more information on wood burning in these interesting times, read Rob Hopkins’ blog post on the subject – there are issues around it.
I think I can get the price down, if there is enough interest.

Just for info – the whole of Bristol is declared a Smoke Control Zone – so if you have a woodburner – it needs to be an exempt appliance.
For more info see:

Did anything ever come of this?
thanks

not that I know of Will, but happy to put you in touch with Jo
HI – no, we didn’t get any response
I’m adding this to January’s mail-out to see if there is any interest…
Hi,
Yes, we would be interested in a share of a wood order. We have a wood burning stove, fitted with a kit so it is smoke-free.

I might be interested, but have a few questions:
Do you know what £85-ish per tonne equates to in price per cubic metre, or dumpy bag?
Is it hardwood or softwood or a mix?
How long has it been seasoned for?
I don’t have a van, so would need to have it delivered/dumped to the door rather than a central point – would this be possible? Could take up to 4 builders’ dumpy bags. I guess this is the killer question!
Cheers,
Shiona
Hi- I got wood from this lot, they’re called Fred Wood. They cut to size which is good and were £90 for the ( I think cubic metre) I don’t think they’re any different from other wood providers, afterall, so best try whoever you think.
