Transition to Low Carbon Conference Winchester

This post relates to a confence I went to last November (yes, ages ago;)! ). It was organised by WinACC (Winchester Action on Climate Change) and Southampton University.
Also wanted to link to a brilliant case study of community energy footprint reduction from Nottingham Energy Partnership. I have also put it in the resources section of our website. See link:  The_Meadows_community_energy_company-1
All talks were interesting but those most useful (in my estimation) were:

1. Solutions for living on one planet by BioRegional’s Sue Riddlestone- including how they lowered the footprint of Hackbridge, Surrey and how they might tackle London as a whole.

http://www.bioregional.com/news-views/publications/ loads of focused and high quality information on one planet living, facts, figures, case studies and how we might do it

2. How a community can fund its own energy supply by Richard Douthwaite (Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability[FEASTA], author of ‘The Growth Illusion’ and ‘The Ecology of Money’). He talked of local currencies and energy bonds and what he is doing to implement these in the town of Kilkenny, Ireland.

http://theliquiditynetwork.org cutting edge stuff on starting a green economy, local currencies etc

http://theliquiditynetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Liquidity-Brochure-V4.pdf- leaflet on the local currency to be used in Kilkenny
